Description:The Norfolk Harvesters were established in 2001 when former members of the Waterford high school team got together and started weekly scrimmages. Having played club rugby in Hamilton for a couple years, our club president Ryan Elliott, Dave Gyselinck (vice president and fixtures) and Pat Farrell (treasure and secretary) formed the club’s founding executive. These three men were able to schedule some exhibition matches with teams from the Niagara Rugby Union, to see if a rugby club in Norfolk was feasible. After a handful of friendly games, the original group decided to take the next step and formally join the Niagara Rugby Union for the 2002 season. The newly formed squad was surprisingly competitive, finishing the season in 4th place out of 8 teams in the league. The beginnings of a strong team foundation were built and the group was motivated for a great future.
In 2003, the Club continued to improve and finished the season with an astounding 5-1 league record. This resulted in Norfolk winning the Niagara Rugby Union C division championship and a promotion to the B division for the 2004 season. Our numbers grew again and we had a committed group of about 25-30 players contributing to another championship season. Proudly, the Harvesters recorded a perfect 10-0 season in 2004! The Harvesters have earned a spot in the Niagara Rugby Union A division for the 2005 season, after only being in existence for 4 years! This remarkable achievement has been a direct result of level of commitment of our athletes, and our excellent relationship with our sponsors.

Over the past few seasons, we have had a lot of newspaper coverage of our games both locally and in other regions of Ontario. The next season will take us from our home in Norfolk to various points throughout southern Ontario including Niagara Falls, London, Hamilton, Windsor, Burlington, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Brantford.
